This bad year

What can I say, 2017 has been a bit of a down year for me and my training.

I raced in only one triathlon

I grew my belly

I hardly swam

I made a huge dent in the sofa

Why? I'm not really sure? I don't think I had trained too hard in 2016 to burn myself out. Maybe I'm just at that age! I'm almost 43 as I type this, maybe its the MANopause, maybe I'm just looking for excuses, I don't know.

Certainly these dark mornings and nights don't help at this time of the year, but that's no excuse, I have built myself an bloody good gym and I have plenty opportunity to train.

Work changed this year, I moved offices so I now have a longer commute and I do not have the "forced" exercise that I had at the previous office. There, the car park was 5km away from the office, so I had the choice of a smelly shuttle bus or a calm run/ride down some cycle paths and canals. It was great! I felt like I had to do it and even when I felt that I couldn't be bothered, once I got started, I was fine. At the new office, the roads are busy and filled with car fumes and after an hour of commuting on the motorway at five in the morning, by the time I arrive at work, training is the last thing on my mind.

We love routines, mine changed and I haven't managed to establish a new routine.

That's it!

I need a new routine, I need to dig in for a few weeks and get myself back into the flow.

I also need to stop eating everything I see!

To be continued..........
