My Dad and the Great North Run

This September I will be taking part in the Great North Run in support of the Alzheimer's Society.

Dad has been diagnosed with Lewy body dementia and Alzheimer's.

My daughter, his forth grandchild, was born in May 2023.

A few days after she was born, he suddenly announced that he would like to see her, so my dad and my mother drove over to see her. By the time he arrived, he wasn't really there, he didn't know what was going on.

A few days later he suffered an episode which put him in hospital and he has been in care ever since.

He never really got to meet her.

Mentally, he is stuck at work, he doesn't really know what's going on around him. Sometimes he recognises us, but it is fleeting and he disappears again.

Right now there is nothing really that we can do for my dad, but hopefully, in the future, Alzheimer's and all forms of dementia can be eliminated.

Alzheimer', dementia is a terrible disease. Please help me in supporting the Alzheimer's Society.

Thank You
